Disposal of Unsalvageable Storm Items in St. Louis
When it comes to items that are affected by water, there are certain circumstances when those items cannot be saved. This is the case when those contents are affected by Category 3 water, also known as black water. Category 3 water contains extremely high levels of contaminants that could have dangerous adverse health effects. Flood waters and sewage backups both fall into this category. When this water comes into contact with porous items such as textiles and upholstery, the item is considered to be unsalvageable. When this occurs, we will tear out or dispose of the items as required by IICRC guidelines. In these photos, you can see that we have set up a dumpster for disposal. Having a dumpster in place on site means we can efficiently and neatly dispose of porous contents and any demolition materials.
